Build in public· 6 min

Build in public without the grind.

Make the daily post a byproduct of the work, not a second job.

Build-in-public works when the artifact you share is real. It fails when daily posting becomes its own job. This guide turns the board into the post — what shipped, what's next, what you got wrong — without writing it twice.

01

Mark shipped cards as you go.

Don't batch. The moment a card is done, mark it shipped. The shipped digest is only useful if it reflects the day, not a guess at the end of the week.

02

Use the shipped digest, not a blank page.

Open the shipped digest at the end of each day. It's the first draft of the post. Trim the entries that don't carry meaning outside your head, keep the ones that move the story.

03

Show the canvas.

Once a week, take a screenshot of the canvas at full zoom. People can see the shape of the work change. That's more compelling than the same headshot photo on a feed.

04

Show the misses too.

When you move a card to a Failed frame, that's a post. "Here's the assumption I had. Here's why it was wrong. Here's what I'm trying instead." That's the build-in-public premium content.

05

Don't post on weekends unless you want to.

Sustainable cadence > heroic cadence. Three times a week beats seven for two months and zero forever after.

Build in public is supposed to compound — the artifact, the audience, the discipline. Make the post a downstream of the board and it does. Make the post the work and you'll quit by month three.
